In the late 1920s, Thomas and Catherine Pottle opened the Alcott Shoe Shop, where for more than three decades they repaired shoes and hand tooled leather and wood crafts. Along with a creamery, a bakery and other small neighborhood businesses, this corner thrived as a place where neighbors gathered and businesses prospered.
